Sneak Preview: Season Brawl #4

Gordon Pepper breaks down Season Brawl #4

Welcome to the first Season Brawl in NJ. And if you look at this bracket…well….woof. This is fully loaded. And as a reminder on how i grade the Fully Loadedness of this…

FAVORITES: One of the teams I think will win the whole thing
LEGITIMATE THREAT: Not one of the front-runners, but if they win it wouldn’t be a surprise
CONTENDERS: They could stick around for a while, but certain unexpected things need to swing their way for them to win
DARK HORSE: They COULD win, but A LOT of things need to swing their way – like everyone running to the parking lot to see a Southside Johnny concert.

Let’s get this jamming.

FAVORITES
Da Garden Foundation – It doesn’t matter that Ray Smarsh is in Delaware. They are a massive threat to win everything. DGF. That is all.

Murder Inc – If there’s any team that’s been a thorn in DGF’s side, it’s Murder Inc., who by the way, grabbed a bunch of new pieces during the opt out.

X-It Woundz – Speaking of teams that are a thorn in DGF’s side, what about the team that ended their reign 2 years ago? NWNJ is here to represent.

Dysfunctional Bowlers – They almost won the first season Brawl and are certainly capable of winning this one.

Legitimate Threat
NJ Spartans – The team that made some big waves for the past 2 seasons would love to get to Battle Bowl – and I’m sure they also wouldn’t mind having to go through arch-rival Dysfunctional Bowlers to do it.

Team Matrix – They won the NJ central district last year and make it a yearly habit to do some damage in the playoffs. You know a fw personailities on that team would love to promo this off should they be successful.

Reaper Crew – They also made an impact in the tough NJNW and have a history of winning WCS titles. Adding a season brawl title to that would be a nice get but not a complete surprise.

Powerhouse – Speaking of teams that like to win titles, hi Powerhouse! This is another grinder team that can win these sorts of events and have the hardware to show that this can be done.

Contenders
Total Mayhem – Total Mayhem FINALLY finished over .500 as a team for the first time ever. Can they power this into potential titles this season?

Tom’s River Rats – Like TM, the Rats had a very nice season as they came in second in the Central. Can they make one of those quality statements this weekend?

Goon Squad – The Goonies finished in third in the NJ Central last season in a performance that could be considered comeback team of the year. What can they do for an encore?

The Chosen Ones – I’m not sure that they wanted to choose midpack status, but they can choose to be so much better this weekend.

Dark Horse
Strike City – In the words of Bart Simpson and coming in 10th place last season, ‘What was that?’ They have way too much talent to be that awful and maybe this is a good first step to shaking off those cobwebs.

Voodoo – Voodoo last year bowled like doodoo. This is a good time to remove the stench of last season and come out smelling like a rose.

About That Money – Two years ago they put in a nice deposit into their coffers. Last season they were…well…an ATM Machine. Can they force the other teams to shut it down?

South Jersey Strike Force – New teams always go to the bottom, because they always have to prove themselves. But should they be able to do that in this sort of field, they would deserve every little bit of the victory.
