We go from the Elite Eight to the Terrific Twelve this season as Battle Bowl has been expanded. Hence, we’ll be getting more first time matches. Gordon Pepper will break down the Southeast Conference.
For those of you who liked my Top 50’s – thank you. For those of you who hated them…well…you may not enjoy yourself any more here, but let’s break down the bracket.
Last Year Posts-SeasonDistrict Records Inner Coastal: 5-3 Triad: 8-5 Capital: 3-3 Queen City: 3-4 Deep South: 1-3 Palmetto: 1-3 Sandhills: 1-3 Midlands: NEW
As you can see, the 32 teams in this Conference is the most of any of them, spread out over 8 differebt districts. Like the regular season, the Triad District had the best success, which spread over to this season as well. Can they continue their recent success? Or will we see some of the old guard recapture the magic they have previously obtained? Let’s check this out.
Hardest Quadrant: #1 (Top Left) The top seed Synergy is going to be tested very early with a very loud Stay Dangerous squad. Speaking of tests, this quadrant is full of previous district champions, including the 3rd placed (???) Hitmen (??), who could be seeing their buddies Outkasts in the second round. Same to be said for the New World Order (Triad) that could be going up against Complete Anarchy (Midlands).
While Sub-Zero hasn’t been a champ, they have graced the Battle Bowl stage in Delaware, leaving Motion 2 Strike, who are still more than talented to make a run. This is just a very hard quadrant, so whoever gets out of this will have earned it.
First Round Match to Watch: Synergy Vs. Stay Dangerous
SecondHardest Quadrant: #4 (Bottom Right) We may be putting the cart before the horse here, but you can’t help but dream of High Octane Vs. G-Town for the chance to get to Battle Bowl. But first, they have to get there – the previous Wilder Cup champs from two seasons ago see a District Champion (Savages) and an arch-rival (D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F.) in their path, while HO have to deal with a dangerous C-Swag squad.
First Round Match to Watch: D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. Vs. Spartanburg Savages
ThirdHardest Quadrant: #2 (Bottom Left) For Disorderly Conduct to get back to Delaware, they have to get past Capital District Winner The Riot Squad and possibly Menace II Society. Whoever gets past that grouping of four will run up against a team, who while they have had some post-season success, has never gotten to Battle Bowl. The top grouping will have an opportunity to get some experience before taking on one of the veteran teams, so one team will be growing up and maturing before our eyes.
First Round Match to Watch: Riot Squad Vs. Disorderly Conduct
Easiest Quadrant: #3 (Top Right) Yes, the MOB is there and while there are a few traditional names, most of the grouping is relatively new. It’s not saying there is no talent, as we have district winners (such as Wasted Potential and Striking Results All-Stars), but due to the lack of post-season experience, this is going to be the most open-field of any of the quadrants.
First Round Match to Watch: Dirty South Legends Vs Rollin’ Rebels
Sleeper Team: Dirty South Legends has always had the depth to make a very long run – it’s been a question of if they have all of their talent show up to get there. Will they show up this season?
Hot Take: While no Triad teams are in the top right (guaranteeing that we will get a new team to make the top 12), the streak of getting a Triad Team to Battle Bowl will be predicted to continue.
