DISTRICT PREVIEW: PENNSYLVANIA NORTH

We are going to be checking out all of the districts. This preview covers Pennsylvania North in the Northeast Conference. Just in case you didn’t check out the Season Brawl, here’s how this works:

FAVORITES: One of the teams I think will win the district and should be a lock to place in the Top 4 and make the playoffs.
LEGITIMATE THREAT: Could win the District. Should be in the running to make the playoffs.
CONTENDERS: They could stick around for a while, but certain unexpected things need to swing their way for them to win
DARK HORSE: They COULD win, but A LOT of things need to swing their way – like everyone running out to see the Liberty Bell to figure out if the crack in the bell was made by a bowling ball.

The top 6 teams in this district last season were separated by 23 points, so you know this is going to be heavily contested. And with Morrisville Bulldogs turning into Do It Yourself and moving to the NJ Northwest, this is going to get even more complicated. Still, we need to figure out who in the logjam is going to shine this season. Who will be the beacon?

FAVORITES
SOUTHAMPTON SAMURAI: They won the district by a scant 3 points. But can they do it again? Based on their WCS play from last season, there’s no reason why they can’t.

MERCER MAYHEM: Talking about returning from the dead – the Mayhem converted a rotten record 2 seasons ago to a second placed finish last season. This year they won’t surprise anyone and the target will be on their back. Can they handle being the hunted instead of the hunter?

PHILADELPHIA HORSEMEN: There’s loads of talent on this squad and they were 13 points away from adding a title to their coffers. They will be in the mix somewhere this season.

LEGITIMATE THREAT
ALL IN!: For a majority of the season they were in the lead but faltered down the stretch. If they avoid that, then they may be able to finish the business they didn’t finish last season.

DEVASTATION INC: They were supposed to be in the South but now they are in the north. They shall be good competition in this district.

THE CHOSEN ONES: The last team in that front six clump, they are also a team that has done very well over the years. They should make some noise this season.

CONTENDERS
VOODOO: For a team that’s been around for a while, this was a young team and it showed last season. How well the youth on this team matures will be the key on how far they go.

SMURF NATION: What the heck happened last season?!? They should be in that front 6 clump and not in 7th. That’s not going to happen this season.

DARK HORSE
BROAD STREET BULLIES: Like Smurf Nation, this is a much better team than was advertised last go around. There’s no way they should be in last, and there’s no way they will be. But can they get to the top?
