Northeast Unholy Alliance World Championship Series Predictions

Gordon Pepper makes his predictions

It’s that time of year again – no not snow – we have plenty of that. It’s time to predict the Northeast World Championship Series Title Matches. So far I’m 10-2 and you can play along in the pick ’em section here: https://www.ubatoday.info/2021/02/northeast-unholy-alliance-wcs-matches-who-wins/ So let’s play.

NORTHEAST HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION George Williams (Replacements)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDER Miguel Acobo (The Franchise)
THOUGHTS: Besides being a part of The Franchise, Acobo is also part of The Meme Mafia, which is the same group former Heavyweight Champion Alex Prell was in. Acobo may dedicate this one to Alex, or he may want to regain the belt – something he has already had a hold of. Acobo will not be intimidated by the big stage here, and if both men are on their games, this could be a classic. Williams needs to come out strong here and that’s what he’s really good at, being able to knock off Prell by setting the tone and not letting up. Williams also needs to not be phased by the ‘BS Carry’, which is an Acaob trademark. This could be too close to call, but it’s my job to call it so…
PICK: Acobo in 6

NORTHEAST VIXENS TITLE MATCH
Champion Yvette Ford (Boardwalk Empire)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDER Mia Williams (AC Express)
THOUGHTS: This is another match where a past belt holder will want to reclaim something that used to be theirs. Ford is fantastic and had an ‘A’ game showing against Sagirah Wheeler to win the title, but she is going to need the A+ game here. Williams never lost the title (she had to give it up through surgery) and has spent more than a year getting back to this level. This has all of the makings of an early candidate for Match of the Year, and if Williams is on, she’s not going to be denied.
PICK: Williams in 7

NORTHEAST CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
#1 CONTENDER Raul Renteria (Dysfunctional Bowlers)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDER Jeff Wiltsey (Voodoo)
THOUGHTS: Part of the fun of now being Operations Manager instead of World Championship Series controller is that I get to have fun with my predictions (AKA things that will motivate your opponent). Jeff Wiltsey is more than capable from a physical and technical standpoint to win the belt. The mental game is going to be the gigantic question mark here, because if Raul gets a lead and Jeff can’t find anything early, we will see a meltdown of epic proportions. Chances are we will be seeing just that and Renteria may want to hide the towel in case Wiltsey wants to mandible claw him with it.
PICK: Renteria in 5

NORTHEAST WELTERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION Julio Hernandez (Hounds of War)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDER Lore Galan-Leonard (B.O.A.)
THOUGHTS: For all the years that the WCS has been around, this is the first ever CT team Vs. CT team title match. And this match is not going to disappoint, either. Both of these people know each other’s game, so this should be fun to watch. It’s time for the classic coin flip mode…
PICK: Hernandez in 7

NORTHEAST CLASSIC TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
CHAMPIONS: Raul Renteria / Bryan Andes (Dysfunctional Bowlers)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDERS: Akeem Wright / Josh Baker (Silver Lane Express)
THOUGHTS: Renteria is the strongest bowler between the four of them so the key is going to be getting wins off of Andes. Wright and Baker have had a great strategy in their games coming in and his could be fun – for awhile. But they will have to be able to adjust midstream and while DB have shown mastery in that aspect, that could be when SLE get into trouble. SLE could be winning the titles down the road, but they won’t do it here. Yet.
PICK: DB in 6

NORTHEAST HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
CHAMPIONS David Nagelhout / Matthew Frei-Funk (Dysfunctional Bowlers)
Vs.
#1 CONTENDERS Chris Waters / Chris Monger (Southampton Samurai)
THOUGHTS: The belts have only had one owner and that’s been the Dysfunctional Bowlers. But Nagelhout and Unholy Alliance don’t go along with each other too well and the Samurai can take lots of practice at Bowlerama (which fortunately for Nagelhout, wasn’t where he lost to Alex Prell). Bowlerama is very lefty-friendly, and that will favor DB if it gets into a strike-fest. The champions should retain here but this is going to be a lot closer than what people think it will be.
PICK: DB in 7
