Breaking Down Season Brawl #1

Gordon Pepper breaks down who he thinks will win the first Season Brawl

This is the first time I’ll be analyzing the teams for the Season Brawl – but certainly not the last (as you can see, we have at least 16 of these events planned). I’m going to take each team and rank them as follows:

FAVORITES: One of the teams I think will win the whole thing
LEGITIMATE THREAT: Not one of the front-runners, but if they win it wouldn’t be a surprise
CONTENDERS: They could stick around for a while, but certain unexpected things need to swing their way for them to win
DARK HORSE: They COULD win, but A LOT of things need to swing their way – like a herd of charging buffalo goring half of the field

If there’s new teams added, I will add them on as long as there’s enough time to do so.

So let’s start:

FAVORITES
BC CREW: Sure, they haven’t made a splash lately, but they are always dangerous and this is their home turf. There’s no way they don’t make the playoffs and they will go far unless they run into one of the other favorites. .

DYSFUNCTIONAL BOWLERS: They were running away with the NJNE District last year before play stopped. And oh yeah, they have a lot of pretty shiny World Championship Series belts. If those same players show up…

LANE CRASHERS: They made a deep run a few years back with a combination of scratch and handicap. Assuming they bring their A-Lineup, this is a team that you will be hearing a lot from this season.

LONG ISLAND LEGENDZ: So they are from Long Island, they have a lot of scratch bowlers…and they have some guy who held the Heavyweight Belt for awhile, Yeah, they could be a factor in this.

LEGITIMATE THREAT
#INVAIN: They got to the elite 8 a few years ago riding their handicap team and during the opt out period, they picked up a bunch of scratch bowlers from the Good Brothers. Can they start combining forces and will that start in NY?

KILLERZ GRIP: They were behind the Legendz by 2 points before Corona came calling. Could be fun to see both of them meet up. Or them and the BC Crew. Long Island House Party!

LIGHTZ OUT: Like KG, they have given the Crew and Legendz fits. Revenge is best on an alley served cold….

CONTENDERS
BOWLING BULLIES: They were the bullies of the ball a few years ago. Last year…notsomuch, but this is the time for a rebound. Can they start the progression here?

DARK LEGENDZ: They have the handicap bowlers, as their Welterweight track record suggests. Now they need their scratch bowlers to step up. If they do, then they can make a deep run.

SUICIDE SQUAD: Like the Legendz, their handicap is solid. Now it’s time for their scratch lineup to step up and take the lead.

DARK HORSE

CITY MORGUE: I don’t know much about them except they have challenged a few teams and lost. But this would be a nice time for them to make a good impression in a much bigger stage.

ROYAL FLUSH:
They finally made a strong showing when they moved to the NY South. But is it because they were better? Or is it because they were in the NY South? Saturday may provide more answers to those questions.
